COLLAGEN LIP INJECTION

Collagen is the industry-leader in injectable lip enhancement & lip augmentation. Collagen lip injection is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that can add significant volume to the lips, creating a "pout" effect that can last for months.

Collagen is derived from cow connective tissue and, in addition to plumping up lips, can be used to fill out acne scars and wrinkles. Collagen injection treatment can also be combined with other cosmetic procedures, including Botox treatment.

Who can have collagen lip injections?

About 3% of the population is allergic to bovine collagen, so allergy-testing must be carried out before treatment.

The collagen injection procedure

Prior to injection, your doctor will determine where to administer the injections by examining your face & lips. Collagen is then directly injected under the skin to have a local effect.

The entire collagen injection procedure takes approximately 10 minutes and does not require general anaesthesia. Discomfort is usually minimal and brief.

After the collagen injection

You will notice an immediate change in your lips after collagen injection, the effects of which can last up to 18 months. However, results may vary.

Minor discomfort is common during the procedure. After injection, the site may be tender, red and swollen. This usually settles over a few days.

The collagen lip injection procedure has been proven to be a safe and effective treatment for lip augmentation, and collagen lip injections are becoming increasingly popular.

Potential complications

- skin infection
- skin ulceration
- allergic reaction to collagen
- asymmetrical result
- "trout pout"

How long do the effects of collagen injections last?

Eventually the body metabolises the collagen, so the effects are not permanent.

Collagen lip implants last from a couple of months to a year and a half. Repeat treatments are usually required to maintain the effect over time.

How much do collagen lip injections cost?

Collagen lip injections are available in the UK from £250.
